ALAMO AFA ACTIVITIES

AFROTC AND AFJROTC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS Over 20 scholarships have been awarded totaling more than $ 4900.00 to students at Southwest Texas High Schools and Universities. This program is in its seventh year and is expected to be expanded in 2008.

FAMILY MEMBER SCHOLARSHIPS A $500.00 Scholarship was awarded to a dependent wife of an active duty airman, a son of a Retired Officer is awarded an $500.00 scholarship to attend college locally an active duty officer's daughter is awarded a $500.00 scholarship to attend Southwest Texas University.

EARLE NORTH PARKER HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Is about to get underway. Check with your local Senior Class English Teacher for details. This year's Alamo Award will be $500.00 and competition continues at the Texas AFA level.

VISIONS OF EXPLORATION PROGRAM GETS UNDER WAY 30 elementary schools and 2 area high schools will be participating in this program for 18 weeks.  Each week classrooms will receive 30 copies of the USA TODAY newspaper, a teacher's guide and an individual student hand book. Alamo AFA's share of this program is $3620.00.

Two Local Enlisted chosen "Air Force Airmen of the Year." SMSgt Tammy L. Brangard-Hern, Personnel Superintendent, Randolph AFB, TX, AFDW and SrA Linn Aubrey, Medical Laboratory Journeyman, Lackland AFB, TX, AETC, were in the selection of the top 12  "Airmen of the Year" for the Air Force.
